Support to the environmental monitoring of the Rio Negro area in the Amazon Basin
The Rio Negro Environmental and Climate Monitoring Program is an initiative coordinated by the Socio-Environmental Institute through which indigenous peoples report on the state of the environment in their territories. By reviewing questionnaires, programming tablets and monitoring data quality, Plan supported this initiative throughout 2017 and 2018. In the project, 50 indigenous researchers covered an area of 300,000 km2 making observations that will help improve sustainable economic and subsistence practices in the Amazon rainforest.
